Call for Nominations
Adarna House is calling for nominations in relation to its Libro Mo, Libro Ko program. The winning nominated institution will receive educational reading materials from Adarna House and a partner donor. Nominees may be a day care center, a public elementary school, or a barangay reading center.
This initiative is a response to the growing concern over the lack of relevant and enjoyable reading materials available in venues of state-funded early education. In order to build relationships between deserving donees and appropriate donor organizations, Adarna House, through its revised Libro Mo, Libro Ko program, will serve as liaison and agent for the two parties.
Nominations may be written in Filipino or in English and must include the following items:
• photos and a detailed description of the school’s or center’s current reading area; the available materials; and regular and/or special activities that have been held to encourage the use of, or to improve, this reading area;
• a typed or computerized proposal, 2 to 5 pages in length, detailing
1. an ideal reading area for the school or center;
2. the reading materials needed;
3. a maintenance workplan for the reading area;
4. a line-up of regular activities to maximize its use; and
5. two to three special activities to promote literature and literacy within a year.
Nominations should be submitted by e-mail to masayangmagbasa@adarna.com.ph, or by post to

Complete applications will be considered on a merit basis, and will be judged on the value of the proposed programs in relation to the promotion of literacy and literature. There is no deadline for nominations — individuals and/or institutions may send nominations anytime and one proposal will be chosen every month from June to December 2009. Although promptness will not be a criterion for selecting recipients, early nominations will give Adarna House more time to look for partner donors.
Adarna House and donor organizations will select donees from among the individuals and institutions who submit complete nominations. Donees will not be chosen from any particular educational or government institution, or from any particular geographic location. A key criterion will be the nominee’s potential contribution to the promotion of literacy and literature, based on the reading programs in the submitted proposal.
