• Storytelling
Participants in this workshop are trained on the art of narration. It focuses on the tools a storyteller can use, and how these tools can be maximized to the storyteller’s advantage. It covers topics such as tips on choosing which story to tell, the things one must find out before storytelling, and the different ways to introduce a story.
• Teaching Beginning Reading
This workshop tackles the Four-Pronged Approach, a literature-based method of teaching beginning reading. Each of the four prongs are discussed, accompanied by extensive modules, then applied by the participants through interesting and practical activities.
• School Readiness
Parents with children who are just about to go to school would do well attending this workshop. It will share ways on how parents can teach kids the preliminary preschool concepts, and therefore get them started on the wonderful world of reading. Topics for discussion include implications for teaching as well as prerequisites for learning to read.
• Literature for Children
This workshop deals with how literature can play an integral role in raising and teaching children. It will teach participants how to choose appropriate books for specific purposes and age levels, tackle the qualities of good literature for children, and offer tips on how to get one's work published.
• Library Improvement Series
This workshop will give participants ideas on how to enhance their efforts in encouraging children and young adults to discover the joys of reading. With points of discussion ranging from personal growth to community development, the series will also feature practical activities and workshops that librarians can use to make their job easier and more fulfilling. |
