Facilitated by an Adarna House author (Aneka Rodriguez), this lecture-workshop will feature intensive discussions on the basic elements of the short story.  Perfect for young book lovers, the class will help participants to create their own character studies and narrative lines.  At the end of the workshop, the kids will have finished writing their own short story, and will surely have discovered a love for the written word.

 

Summer Book Illustrating Class

A lecture-workshop that will touch on the basics of book illustration and layout, this summer class will feature one Adarna House illustrator per day.  The artists will show the participants different styles, trends, and techniques in illustrating books for children.  Teens are sure to enjoy meeting artists as they produce their very own works of art.

 

 

 

For four days during summer vacation, kids are guided through the step-by-step process of making their own book — from creating their story, breaking down their narrative into scenes, to drawing the characters and events on each page.  The workshop is facilitated by professional authors, illustrators, and storytellers.

 

 

 

Based on the Ready for School book series, this workshop will get kids started on basic preschool ideas.  Through storytelling and simple art projects, Adarna House storytellers will teach participants about shapes, colors, counting, and other such concepts.
